Hanukkah!

Yeah, so, my mom and i went to that "magical night of giving" at the mall which should be called "a ridiculous night of spending" and we became disgusted with the commercialization of Christmas.  We watched as people flocked to different stores buying things for people just to say "i got u something."  It used to be a holiday I loved , but now it has morphed into a commercialized monster.  Each year people try to out do eachother with decorarions, gifts, food, etc. Do people even remember that Christmas is about uh, Jesus?  Well, i'm certainly not a religous person, but i think that Christians are neglecting what is supposed to be the most celebrated day of the year for them. So this Christmas my family and i have decided that we are celebrating a modifyed version of Hanukkah.  It will last for 8 days like the traditional holiday, and we will have the candles and such, and we will still buy some presents but not nearly as much as in past years.  I think it will be fantazmic.  I think we are going to use some of the money we save to give to charities.  So many poor people feel left out this time of year and that is what really breaks my heart.  Poor kids can't believe in santa because they never get any presents or they just believe that they have been too bad to get any presents and that is really sad. Maybe if people would stop buying a bunch of junk and starting giving back and spreading the love Christmas will be a holiday that brings society closer together and not a race to the shopping malls.

Take Action Now

(Blame Anti-Flag for this rant)  The worst thing to be is neutral.  The worst thing is to have no opinion.  Know what u believe in.  Stand up now for the injustices we face.  Do not stand by as our government takes away our rights.  Get angry because over 1 billion people live on less than $1 a day.  Get angry because  racial predjudice is still an issue in this country.   Get angry because women are paid less for the same jobs that men do and are exploited on television as sex objects.  Get mad because 1/5 of the children living in the U.S. go to bed hungry while 60% of the population is overweight or obese.  Stand up now! Speak out against these injustices.  What will it take for people to do something?  How much will we stand before we can't take it anymore?!
